The Senate passed the Kids Online Safety Act on Tuesday. If it passes Congress, the bill will protect children and hold tech accountable for dangerous content on the internet.
The legislation has bipartisan support and is backed by parents whose children experienced cyberbullying and parent’s whose children died by suicide after being cyber bullied.
KOSA was first introduced by Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal in February 2022.
The last time Congress passed a law to protect children on the Internet was in 1998, for the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
