? A Darien parish still shocked by the alleged betrayal from its former reverend got some help moving forward when a bishop led mass Sunday.
Bishop William Lori, of the Diocese of Bridgeport, expressed his love for the congregation at St. John Roman Catholic Church and apologized for the pain members are feeling. Many of the faithful said they are trying to unite in prayer to gain closure.
A private investigator turned over information showing Reverend Michael Jude Fay used at least $200,000 of the church?s money to pay for a lavish lifestyle with a male companion. The investigator says someone connected to the church hired him. Fay resigned this week after he was confronted with the information. Federal authorities are also investigating the case. The church wants Fay to reimburse the funds.
