Local musicians will be taking over Bridgeport's Black Rock neighborhood this weekend.
Zully Ramos and her brother Joey started their group Zully Ramos and The OG's several years ago. They are now tuning up for one of their biggest gigs yet.
"I'm just so excited. I cannot wait," said Zully.
Zully Ramos and The OG's are the big act for the 9th annual Black Rock Porchfest this Saturday.
It will be their first time performing at this Black Rock tradition.
"There's probably 5 or 6 or 7 porches going at the same time and every hour there's a new band," said Zully.
There will be over 100 musicians taking part.
"It's beautiful that we're all playing music together in this whole community of Bridgeport, Black Rock and just representing every type of color, every type of race. It doesn't matter political differences or indifferences that we're together with music." said Joey.
The annual day-long festival, which began in 2016, takes place throughout the Black Rock neighborhood and features local musicians playing on various houses' porches throughout Black Rock.
The bands cover a variety of genres all for the love of music.
"Music heals us. Music is there when you know we are going through things in life whether it's sad or happy. I think music is just... It's a window for us to be able to look deeper into our hearts. I think that sometimes we can't express ourselves and through music we can," said Zully.
