New police body camera video has been released following last week's deadly police‑involved shooting in Hartford.

Officials warned that some viewers may find the footage disturbing.

The video came from the Office of Inspector General. The man shot and killed on Capitol Avenue was identified as Everard Walker, who was 53.

According to the IG's investigation, Walker was suffering from a mental health crisis. The report said officers first went into the apartment but quickly stepped back outside after they feared he might throw boiling water at them.

The investigation said officers re‑entered the apartment and an altercation followed. Walker then showed a knife and appeared ready to stab an officer, according to the findings.

That is when officers fired several shots. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

The IG office is continuing to investigate.
