Police are reviewing surveillance video to try and catch two men who pulled off a brazen ATM robbery at a check-cashing business in Mott Haven early Friday morning.
According to police, one suspect attached one end of a rope to the ATM and the other end to a car. The other suspect hit the gas, ripping the cover off the ATM machine at the 24-hour Rite Check on Bruckner Boulevard at around 4:30 a.m.
Investigators say the men then cleaned out the ATM and fled south on Bruckner Boulevard with more than $13,000.
"It's very crazy that something like that could happen," says resident Renato Lopez. "There should be more surveillance because this area right here is always very dark at night."
No one was injured in the robbery.
