The Bridgeport Barnums, the newest team in the Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League (CCBL), is enjoying succes in its inaugural season.
The team is comprised of players from Staples High School, St. Joseph's, Fairfield Warde, Darien High School, and more.
Head Coach Chris Bugyi says it is all about getting players added reps so they can stay sharp for their fall and spring seasons.
"A lot of guys do not like the baseball thrown inside, so when they come to a practice like this, we're working on fastballs middle in, and you need to turn on the ball," Bugyi says.
He adds that the team's goal is to hopefully join the Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) within the next five years.
"We have the ballpark, we've got the players around here and the kids love to play around here... its a big, big thing," Bugyi says.
The team plays its home games at Seaside Park where admission is free.
