Bridgeport city officials and residents took no chances with Tropical Storm Fay Friday.
Work crews blocked streets in low-lying areas to prevent flooding.
Barricades were placed along Connecticut Avenue in the East End as part of a plan to prevent the need for water rescues. Crews also cleaned the tops of catch basins to improve water flow and minimize flooding.
Officials warned residents who live in low-lying areas to move their cars to higher ground. The EOC advised those who live in places vulnerable to high winds like mobile homes or upper floors of high-rise apartment buildings to move to safer shelter.
