Business owners in Bridgeport are working together to help a family whose young son was killed one week before Christmas.
Clinton Howell, 12, was fatally shot on Dec. 18.
John Ferguson and Lisa Fedick, from Bridgeport's Wonderland of Ice, along with their son Nyjahwahn say they purchased a casket and a burial plot at Mountain Grove Cemetery for Howell.
They say their contributions were made possible in part by a surplus of funds they raised for the Greater Bridgeport Christian Fellowship after thieves stole from its Toys for Tots charity.
The business owners say they also helped the family with financial assistance to ease their suffering during this painful time.
Howell's family says they're grateful for the help and appreciate the general outpouring of support from the community following their son's slaying. They say that while nothing will bring their son back, the outpouring of generosity from people like Fedick and Ferguson is helping them deal with their grief.
Howell's funeral is set for Jan. 11 at Cathedral of Praise at 45 Gregory Street.
