The Bridgeport City Council races are heating up - especially in the 139th district.
Incumbents Ernie Newton and Eneida Martinez say they're running on a successful record of creating jobs, building the economy and making practical improvements like streets and sidewalks.
They say they brought a state-of-the-art library to the city's East End along with a civic block featuring a grocery store and health care center.
Opponents Wanda Simmons and Victoria Majewski tell News 12 they follow the city charter, build unified relationships and support youth programming and better mental health training.
Both sides say they want to work with the community to make Bridgeport better.
