Bridgeport community mourns sudden death of beloved Little League coach

The Bridgeport community is heartbroken following the sudden death of a beloved local baseball coach.
Coach Danny Quarante was found dead Saturday inside his home. He had been getting ready to coach a North End Little League game. He was 46.
His wife Carrie Anne Quarante says the coach cared so much about people. "He loved everyone. No one had a bad thing to say about him. He made a friend everywhere he went," she says.
Carrie Anne Quarante says her husband was the primary caregiver to their 13-year-old son, a twin, who has a serious chronic illness. She says they could not get life insurance because her husband experienced sleep apnea, so a fund has been established to help the family as Carrie Anne Quarante goes forward as a single working parent.
She says her husband was waiting to get surgery for his condition, and she believes he would still be alive if he had gotten the surgery in time.
"It is really a serious disease that needs to be taken seriously. Often doctors just believe that you were going to use a CPAP machine and be just fine. That is not the case. Your heart weakens from the disease, and it should be highly noticeable. People should truly understand how dangerous sleep apnea is and how you can lose the most important person of your life to this disease," she said.
A baseball field in Bridgeport will soon be renamed in honor of Danny Quarante.
