The City of Bridgeport has extended its hot weather emergency amid ongoing high temperatures.
"We want to get the word out to everyone -- but especially to seniors and anyone whose health is in a fragile state -- that cooling centers are open across the city," said Mayor Joe Ganim.
Francine Ferguson was one of many local seniors taking refuge at the Eisenhower Senior Center in downtown Bridgeport Monday afternoon.
"I have several chronic health conditions that are aggravated by the hot weather -- and I just want to make sure I'm safe," Ferguson said.
