Bridgeport firefighters are offering free smoke detectors during National Fire Prevention Month.
Although the city offers the free life-saving devices year round, officials say now is a perfect time to benefit from the program.
Firefighters will install smoke detectors for free for anyone in the city who needs them. They can also come out make sure smoke detectors are working.
It's something they've done since 2005.
The fire department has given out 65,000 smoke detectors.
Bridgeport recently received a federal grant so they'll be able to install another 3,300 smoke detectors.
