Bridgeport firefighters earlier this week rescued a 7-year-old girl from an elevator.
Lyricc Bowman says she was helping her mother move Tuesday when they were filling up the elevator and the door jammed. Her mother, Mercedes, says she was right outside the elevator door as it shut.
An hour earlier, Deputy Fire Chief Dominick Carfi says firefighters had wrapped up a training course on handling elevator emergencies. It was a refresher, he says, that came just in time.
The firefighters were able to use the techniques shown during the course and the girl was set free.
Bowman says she wasn't scared during the ordeal, as she knew her mother and firefighters were nearby.
