Bridgeport food bank crowdfunds to repair broken delivery truck
A Bridgeport food bank that caters to hundreds of families in need has started a crowdfunding campaign to fix its broken delivery truck.
Officials say thousands of meals are delivered to hundreds of Bridgeport families every single week for the non-profit Park City Initiative also known as the Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry.
However, a couple of weeks ago the truck's transmission blew endangering the entire program.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has arranged for a temporary vehicle to help out with deliveries, but in the long run the organization says it needs to get its vehicle repaired.
The bank has set up a fund to raise $3,000, which is actually discounted down from the $8,000 it would have costed thanks to Miranda and Sons Automotive who agreed to do the job at cost.
