Hundreds gathered at the East End Baptist Tabernacle for the funeral of Gregory Robertson, who was fatally shot at a club in Waterbury two weeks ago. Detectives say he was an innocent bystander.
Family and friends remembered Robertson as a hard-working father who always put his family first.
His loved ones say he moved to Virginia a decade ago to get away from violence, only to be killed upon his return to Connecticut to visit his son.
"It was just painful to be there, to see these people hurt and not be able to comfort them, to make things better, but God does that. God will make it right,” said family friend Tony Barr.
The family wishes to advocate against gun violence in his memory in the hope of saving others.
They say they want police statewide to "crack down on social clubs that act as a magnet for gun violence."
Police say the shooting remains under investigation.
