A Bridgeport musician is working to build awareness about gang violence in hope of saving lives.
Chad Newton has produced a short film about the subject, which he hopes will discourage membership in gangs.
Newton, whose stage name is Chaz-O, says he has seen the results of gang violence first-hand, and wants to spare others the pain of losing a loved one.
"My hope for the short film is actually that, for the younger generation, I want them to know that they don't have to go that route," said Newton.

His film, "Ain't Playin Wit Ya," premieres tonight at the Bijoux Theater at 8 p.m.

It's also available on Amazon Prime.
