A house fire in Bridgeport killed two puppies Friday night, fire officials say.

First responders arrived at the home on Chalmers Avenue at around 8:30 p.m.

Firefighters say the family escaped unharmed, though their house was destroyed. One dog was rescued from the scene.

Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
