A Bridgeport man who is waiting for another kidney transplant says he is grateful for the news that federal government is increasing Social Security checks by 5.9%.
Frank Reese says he is thrilled by the increase in Social Security, which will mean almost $100 more a month for him.
The announcement of the increase was made Wednesday and the reason was made due to inflation in the economy.
Reese is one of about 70 million people, many retired and others disabled who will be getting a 5.9% cost-of-living adjustment beginning in 2022.
However, advocacy groups in Bridgeport say the increase doesn't come close to matching the actual 105% increase in the cost of living.
