With the first day of school less than two weeks away, hundreds of Bridgeport families came out Saturday for a backpack giveaway.
The giveaway happened at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center as part of the annual event that has become a local tradition.
Officials say the backpacks are paid for by the mayor's office.
Several agencies took part in the program, including American Medical Response, the Beardsley Zoo and Bridgeport police.
The Bridgeport Public Library and Optimus Health care also sponsored the giveaway.
