Groundbreaking began today on Bridgeport's largest housing development project of 2016.
Officials from the Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust say the development at 515 West Ave. will include 48 affordable housing units and commercial space.
They say it's the first step in building a new neighborhood in Bridgeport, called "Downtown West."
Organizers say a quarter of the units in the apartment complex will be reserved for veterans.
They say part of the project aims to help people get their lives back on track.
