A Bridgeport lawmaker says his relatives were identified as both the victim and suspect in a fatal shooting.
Police in Alabama say Tamika Stallworth, the niece of Connecticut state Rep. Charlie Stallworth, fired the shot that killed another family member, 10-month-old Jamaya Austin.
Police say Stallworth was apparently aiming at someone else in the car when she inadvertently shot the baby on Christmas Eve.
"Completely shocked, simply speechless, I could not get my hands around it. The persons involved, the time of the year, and such a tragic event. The life of a baby, 10-month-old, it is just so -- it's hurtful and painful,” says Stallworth.

Alabama police did not identify the person believed to have been the target or release a possible motive for the shooting.
