A 70‑year‑old Bridgeport man died after being hit by a car Saturday evening in Bridgeport, Conn.

Police say Curtis Smith was struck around 7:30 p.m. at Capitol Avenue and Parrott Avenue. Officers arrived to find him lying in the eastbound lane of Capitol Avenue just east of the intersection.

Smith was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he died early Sunday morning.

Police say the driver of the Lexus SUV, a 62‑year‑old resident of Hempstead, N.Y., stayed at the scene and was uninjured.
