A Bridgeport man is facing multiple charges after police say he was found with an illegal high-capacity rifle following a crash that injured two city employees.
Police say Joseph Kenyhercz is a convicted felon who is now charged with illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine and criminal possession of a firearm. He was also issued a motor vehicle infraction.
They say the crash happened Monday morning at the intersection of East Main Street and Barnum Avenue. Police say they got a call from a city employee reporting an accident involving a city pick-up truck and a van.
When police responded to the accident, they say officers found the rifle and ammunition in Kenyhercz' van.
The two city workers were taken to the hospital and were treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
Court records show that Kenyhercz has been arrested multiple times since last month.
Police say Kenyhercz was arrested in Milford last month after falling asleep in his car with a stolen handgun. It happened at the Wendy's parking lot on Bridgeport Avenue.
Kenyhercz' bond is set at $25,000.
