A Watertown man is facing charges after police say he led troopers on a high-speed chase and later explained he was running late for work.

Police said 52-year-old Allan Vega was spotted speeding on Route 8 near Exit 34 in Watertown on Aug. 26.

Authorities said Vega drove past a state trooper at a high rate of speed.

After tracking him down, police questioned Vega about the incident.

According to police, Vega told officers he was running late for work.

Vega was arrested and charged with several offenses, including reckless driving.
