A Bridgeport man who received a kidney transplant is thanking News 12 and a Connecticut nonprofit for making the surgery possible.
Arthur Gonzalez, 56, got the gift of life recently at Yale New Haven Hospital.
As News 12 previously reported, Gonzalez was next in line on the transplant but needed to have dental work done first.
This is a standard requirement because dental infections can be fatal for organ recipients.
Bob Fiondella, the founder of Amy's Angels helped pay for the procedure which Gonzalez was unable to afford. Dr. Zachary Roth at Dental Care of Stamford also helped by providing a discount on his services.
Gonzalez tells News 12 he feels terrific following the 13-hour surgery.
