Bridgeport man sentenced to 80 years for killing innocent bystander in 2024
A man was sentenced Wednesday to a total of 80 years in prison for a 2024 murder in Bridgeport.
Terence Gallimore, 35, will serve 60 years for the murder of Brandaja Winston. He was sentenced to 10 years for assault for shooting and injuring a man standing near Winston. Judge Kevin Doyle additionally gave Gallimore 10 more years for criminal possession of a pistol or revolver.
The sentences will run consecutively.
Police say Gallimore fired multiple shots from a moving car at a crowd standing on Stratford Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2024.
Winston was struck in the head and killed. The male bystander underwent surgery and survived. Police say both were unintended targets and Gallimore's intended target was not injured.
Gallimore was convicted in December following a two-week trial. Police say the jury deliberated for only a few hours.
Detectives are still working to identify a second shooter who was in the car. Officials say they have several leads.
