Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and the police union have agreed and signed a new police contract.
Local officials met at the Margaret Morton Government Center to officiate the new agreement.
The new contract will help with recruitment and retention of police officers in the city, lower medical insurance cost and better training tools.
Officers will also see a salary increase of 14% over the next five years.
"The message out of this is that this is important, by addressing the needs of the officers, fulfilling those needs we know they'll be there to fulfill the needs of all of our residents and that's how it works," said Ganim.
The new contract will benefit officers of all rankings.
