Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch signed a teen curfew ordinance this afternoon, making the controversial measure official.
The ordinance was passed last week by the city council. It requires kids under 18 years old to be off the streets by 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and by midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
Finch and other city officials hope the curfew will help put a stop to the ongoing violence on the streets of Bridgeport. Officials say there have been 14 homicides in the city so far this year.
Parents whose children violate the curfew could be fined up to $90.
