St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport is recognizing its "Volunteers of the Year."
For more than three years, patients' faces have been lighting up thanks to a visit from Patrice Foudy, a retired dentist, and her 4-year-old Labradoodle, Una.
Hospital administrators say that with volunteers like Patrice and Una, everybody wins.
"Many times the staff is just too busy to spend that extra five minutes, and that's what our volunteers are best at," says Julie Lawrence, of St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Foudy says that she hopes her story will inspire others to volunteer.
