The Bridgeport community is remembering Robert Kennedy, a proud Marine Corps veteran and public works legend who passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago at age 74.
Kennedy, who began his career as a road maintenance worker for the City of Bridgeport in 1985, rose to key leadership roles, including supervisor of district operations.
Jorge Garcia, a colleague from the City of Bridgeport, praised Kennedy’s dedication. “So Bobby Kennedy was one of those people that gave his heart and soul to Bridgeport. He was a legend in the public works industry throughout Connecticut and the whole East Coast,” Garcia said. “He came to work every day, he gave his heart and soul, he was one of those people that believed in the folks that did the work in the field and he made sure that everyone had a voice. He’s done so much for Bridgeport. He was a mentor and he’ll always be a legend here in Bridgeport.”
