A local nonprofit teamed up with a Bridgeport church to bring hope and happiness to families in need this holiday season.
Andrew LaSala, of the Building Hope Foundation, says he's bringing his father's dream of "sharing his good fortune with the community" to life.
He teamed up with Father Skip Karsinski, of Blessed Sacrament Church, in bringing thousands of new high-end toys donated by the Marine Corps Reserve and Toys for Tots to kids in the Greater Bridgeport community.
LaSala thanked Jan Schaefer and Mary Boudreau of the Building Hope Foundation, along with all the other volunteers, for making today's giveaway possible.
"My father back in 1950, along with his brothers, started this foundation. They trained the next generation of the family to be charitable, and what you see today is an extension of that charity, and that's why I'm happy that my father is looking down on me,” he says.
Father Karsinski adds, "This began as family, and family is really of primary importance to us right now. Making sure that our family are somehow given all the support that they need to navigate through this time of crisis for us."
