City officials plan to recognize four Bridgeport police officers for heroically saving a man from a burning car.
Around 10 p.m. on Saturday, the officers rushed to help a man who was trapped inside a burning car on Main and Grand streets in the Hollow Section of Bridgeport.
Authorities say the unresponsive driver had just collided with a white SUV.
Moments before it became engulfed in flames, the officers pulled him out of the vehicle.
Officials say the man was rushed to Saint Vincent's Medical Center to be treated for injuries.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim praised the officers for their heroism, saying they helped save the man’s life.
