Bridgeport officials urge residents to use caution during storm
Officials say there is at least 3 feet of water surrounding Bright Giggles Learning Center on Thompson Street. The center's director tells News 12 she was able to get all of the children inside the building out.
Bridgeport officials say there are many areas of the city that have been impacted by flooding from Tuesday's storm.
This includes low-lying areas of the city, such as Seaview Avenue.
Officials say there is at least 3 feet of water surrounding Bright Giggles Learning Center on Thompson Street.
The center's director tells News 12 she was able to get all of the children inside the building out.
She adds it was emotional, as babies were carried through the flooded waters and safely reunited with their parents and families.
"Firefighters, at the height of the flooding, carried out young children from this daycare facility through this water to safety. I want to thank our fire department, our first responders and emergency services and ask the residents as a way to thank them is to avoid a situation. If you see the flooding like this, do not drive into it. If you don't need to be out, let them get out there. There may be wires down in some areas. I still don't have all the reports, but I want us to be out there and make sure the city streets are safe," said Mayor Joe Ganim.
