Bridgeport parish holds fundraiser to replace broken furnace

Parishioners at Koinonia John the Baptist Church on Ortega Avenue in Bridgeport kicked off a holiday fundraising effort Wednesday for a special cause.
"We need a new heating system, and it will cost about $100,000," the Rev. Father Adriano Biccheri.
"We have every faith that God will provide," he said.
The temperature inside the sanctuary Wednesday afternoon was 53.5 degrees.
"That's cold - and it's keeping people away during the cold months of winter," said parishioner Lisa Landone.
"We want them to come and worship with us all year long - not just when it's warm out," she said.
