A man was hospitalized for observation Tuesday night after police say he fired multiple shots inside his home.

The incident happened on Carroll Avenue just after 6 p.m.

Police say the man, suspected to have mental issues, fired several shots before and after officers arrived.            

They say tactical units surrounded the home, but the man, who was not named by authorities, eventually came out and surrendered his gun.
