Bridgeport police are searching for a man who fatally shot
another man on Friday night.
Police are looking for Miguel Rojas. Investigators say Rojas, 28, has two children with the victim’s girlfriend. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Jalen Parilla.
They say he had been stalking
her and Parilla before the incident.
"You want to wake up thinking, you know, it's not true -- that he's not dead, but I was in the hospital and I saw him myself and I was saying it's not a dream, it's real," said Armando Perez, Parilla's stepfather. "What happened to him, he didn't deserve that, you know."
Police told News 12 when they arrived at the scene they found that Parilla had sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where he died a short time later.
The incident occurred on West Avenue and West Liberty Street
just before 9:30 p.m.
"It's a damn shame and a disgrace as far as I'm concerned," added Jorge Cruz, South End City Councilman.
Police say Rojas was last seen driving a 2018 Honda Accord.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen him to call police at (203) 576-TIPS.
