Bridgeport police say they seized thousands of dollars worth of guns, ammunition and drugs and arrested one person in an overnight raid on a house in the city's North End.
Among the seized items were an AK-47 rifle with a 30-round magazine and 11 grams of heroin.
To illustrate the danger posed by such a weapon, Police Chief AJ Perez demonstrated how AK-47 rounds can pierce body armor that police officers wear.
"There's a tremendous amount of guns out there on the street, and they're coming from everywhere," Perez says. "But rest assured, we are working day and night, and we want to keep our city safe."
Authorities are withholding more details pending the outcome of their investigation, but they do say they expect more arrests in the case.
