The Bridgeport Police Department raised $11,425 for the Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center by going all pink during October.
The funds are raised through the Pink Pledge campaign, and it goes toward helping the center provide medical care to women fighting breast cancer, regardless of their ability to pay for it.
"I'm so proud of the work that our department and our city did in helping raise money for such an important cause,” said Chief Roderick Porter. “I just hope that this small contribution will help save lives and will get people tested early."
This is the first time the Bridgeport Police Department took part in Taking the Pink.
Officer Roxana Edwards says she hopes this contribution can help save lives.
"I feel really proud that we can come together and do something like this and actually sell them and be supportive," said Edwards.
The Bridgeport Police Department says they are proud of the amount they raised and looking forward to raising more money next year.
The campaign lasts all year, anyone interested in contributing or buying a shirt or patch can contact the police department at 203-581-5100.
