Bridgeport police are responding to violence at a city courthouse by reinstating a controversial youth curfew.
City residents under 18 are being warned by police to get off the streets before it gets late, or you could get a ticket.
The policy is back in order after a weekend of violence that ended with a car sprayed with bullets in front of a courthouse.
Teens will no longer be allowed on the streets after 11 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on weekends. The law was actually passed eight years ago, a City Council member says it didn't work effectively.
In 2014, a video surfaced of a Bridgeport police officer struggling with a teen over a curfew violation. This time, Mayor Joe Ganim says things will be different.
"I don't know that video, but I've seen enough videos that I don't want to see -- that we never want to see happen again," says Ganim.
The mayor says police will be given quite a bit of leeway to decide how to handle curfew cases.
