A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a Bridgeport machete assault that happened in June 2023 near Central High School.

According to police, a 26-year-old man was in critical condition after suffering a large stab wound on the school's baseball field.

Police say they identified suspect Gerald W. Valle in Pine Prairie, Louisiana on March 8 and were able to apprehend him. He was then extradited back to Bridgeport.

Valle is facing multiple charges including assault in the first degree. He has a $300,000 bond and is expected to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Tuesday.

Bridgeport police attributed his capture to the work of Bridgeport Detective Jose Bahr and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.
