Bridgeport will reopen schools for in-person learning, the Board of Education announced.
It was an emotional 90-minute Board of Education meeting Wednesday as the decision was made to reopen schools for in-person learning.
Board of Education members and the superintendent say they have a good stock of PPE equipment and are ready to reopen.
They say they have a plan ready to go.
Prior to the meeting, teachers rallied outside to express their concerns about returning to work. Some concerns cited were health risks, kids having to wear masks and school bus safety.
School officials say a lot of time and effort went into making the decision. They say the task force put in hundreds of hours to come up with a comprehensive plan that will keep staff and students safe.
Families do have the option to keep their kids home and participate in remote learning.
