Four school districts in southwestern Connecticut have been cited under the No Child Left Behind Act for not meeting yearly testing standards.
This is the third year in a row that the Bridgeport School District has been unable to meet the testing standards in math and reading on the Connecticut Mastery Test and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test. But school officials in Bridgeport say it's hard to meet the testing standards when the city is the neediest in the state and the one with the least resources.
If the Bridgeport district cannot meet the testing standards by next year it may have to replace some of its staff, extend school hours and have outside experts come into the district.
Stratford, Stamford and Norwalk school districts were also cited.
