Parents at Bridgeport's Jettie Tisdale School say they weren't properly informed that a child brought a gun to the school.
School officials say a student brought the weapon in his backpack on Monday. The boy, they say, simply wanted to show the gun off to his friends and had no intention of hurting anyone.
The school's principal wrote a letter for students to bring home to parents to inform them of the situation.
Some parents received the letter, but other parents of younger children say this mode of communication doesn't work because the kids forget to pass the notes along.
Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz says it's standard procedure to send letters home regarding serious school incidents.
