A free event celebrating Jamaican Independence Day is set to take place on Saturday in Bridgeport.
Organizers say the 61st annual Independence Day celebration will include food, entertainment and activities for children.
Organizer Richard Blake, also known as "Rich Kid,” says the event is being sponsored by Creative Rentals.
He told News 12 the family-friendly event is a great way for people to learn more about Jamaican culture and traditions.
“It's just one of those things that we feel proud of. To show the world that we are so rich in culture, in food and music and love. We want everyone. You don't have to be Jamaican. Just come out and celebrate with us,” said Blake.
The celebration will be held at 40 Logan St. in Bridgeport from 4-10 p.m.
