Veterans in Bridgeport are planting thousands of flags on local soldiers' graves ahead of Memorial Day.
The Bridgeport Veterans Support Center say it's planting 10,000 flags in both the city and Stratford.
Larry Robinson, the coordinator, says volunteers are spending every day this week making sure every soldier's grave is marked with the stars and stripes.
The group, which also includes Teamsters Union 1150 and 191, placed flags at St. Michael's in Stratford Wednesday after blanketing Lake View Cemetery in Bridgeport Monday and Tuesday.
A Vietnam-era Army veteran himself, Robinson says it's important to remember the sacrifices that have been made for our freedom.
The veterans center will be having a ceremony on Memorial Day at 1 p.m. at Seaside Park.
The Bridgeport Veterans Support Center offers transportation, support groups and a food pantry for local veterans in need.
