Cindy Anderson, director of Veterans Affairs for the City of Bridgeport, received a warm welcome from her fellow vets on Veterans Day.
The proud American heroes came together at the Bridgeport Veterans Support Center on Thorme Street Monday afternoon.
"Cindy does a great job for all of us, making sure we get the support and help we deserve as veterans," said Vietnam combat veteran Larry Hunter.
Anderson fought for years to get the Veterans Center relocated from its old location on Fairfield Avenue, which vets complained was run down and not fit for its purpose.
"Cindy got us out of there and we want to thank her for that this Veterans Day," Hunter said.
Anderson said she was grateful to be thanked, but it's her fellow vets who deserve all the credit.
"I am so proud to help every single one of them get the support and attention they deserve. They all put their lives on the line for our great country and we must never forget that -- or them,"Anderson said.
