Many residents gathered in Bridgeport on Sunday for the city’s Puerto Rican Day parade.
People came together to support the Puerto Rican community and to reunite with friends and family.
State and city leaders walked in the parade as a show of unity.
“Our Puerto Rican community is out today, and you can feel the exuberance after missing last year coming out of the pandemic,” says Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
The annual event was limited last year to just a caravan due to the pandemic.
This year’s event was promoted as being more modest than usual, but organizers say they were still thrilled by the decent turnout.
