Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson held a public hearing the four new Metro-North stations coming to the Bronx.

The new stations will connect the East Bronx directly to Penn Station. The four new stations are planned to be built at Hunts Point, Parkchester/Van Nest, Morris Park and Co-op City.

The introduction of these new stations would lead to changes in zoning laws in the area. Members of the city's planning commission say these changes would help grow businesses and bring opportunities to the community, while residents voiced concerns regarding construction and increased traffic in the neighborhood, among other issues.

"It's important that all of our public spaces that we work on include a lot of plants and flowers and a lot of green beautiful spaces shaded areas," said Morris Park resident Michael Garcia. "And with this development... I think that with we're thinking about that with this really big thing that we're doing here."

The borough president's office has 30 days to present their recommendations on the plan. Once those recommendations are in, the City Planning Commission will host another round of public hearings.

If all goes to plan, the final blueprint for these new stations will be on Mayor Adams' desk by the end of this summer.

City planning officials estimate service will start in 2027.

The public hearing was held at Bronx Borough Hall at 851 Grand Concourse. Click here to learn more.
