Andre Brown has been living in a legal tug of war for the last five months.

Brown served 23 years behind bars for the attempted murder of two Bronx teens, before his sentence was overturned due to ineffective counsel.

He was released in 2022 and reunited with his wife and two kids.

“For two years, I was able to be a human, I no longer had a cage," said Brown.

In 2024, the appellate court decided to uphold his conviction, and he was mandated to return to prison to serve out his sentence.

He was given until Friday morning to turn himself in.

In an eleventh-hour decision, the Bronx District Attorney's Office postponed his surrender. Now, Brown continues to live in limbo.

“Any given moment I could be stripped from my family, waking up thinking what will tomorrow hold these are the difficulties I’m facing every single day," he says.
