Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, the nonprofit Building One Community in Stamford says it has been helping an average of 25 immigrant families each day.
Some of them have lost jobs while others are looking for ways to feed their families.
Building One Community has set up a food pantry and other services to help immigrant families through this challenging time. The group's executive director says 30 staff members and vollunteers have been working around the clock.
"Donors are thanking us and the people who are coming here to receive the support…It's heartbreaking," says Catalina Horak, of Building One Community.
Horak says donors have contributed $100,000 to help their efforts. Those donations have assisted over 10,000 people over nearly a decade.
